Mill Owners' Association Building

Le Corbusier · Ahmedabad, India · 1954

Le Corbusier's Mill Owners' Association Building turns an office programme into a study of shade, breeze and ceremonial movement. Deep external screens protect the façades, while a ramp establishes the main approach. Openings towards the river and the interplay of rough concrete, masonry and planted elements connect the building with Ahmedabad's climate and urban setting. Visiting: Still the association's offices on Ashram Road. The ramp and brise-soleil facade can be seen from the gate; ask the guard about entry to the hall.
