Metal Shutter Houses

Shigeru Ban Architects; Dean Maltz Architect · New York, United States · 2011

Shigeru Ban and Dean Maltz designed duplex apartments with large opening glass walls and perforated metal shutters. The movable facade allows residents to adjust privacy and light, turning an otherwise compact residential building into a changing composition of open and closed surfaces. Visiting: Exterior viewing from public streets and the High Line is free. This is a privately used residential building; apartments and amenities are not open for general visits.
