Melbourne School of Design
John Wardle Architects + NADAAA · Melbourne, Australia · 2014
The Melbourne School of Design is organized around a large internal atrium crossed by bridges, studios and a suspended timber-lined learning space. John Wardle Architects and NADAAA designed the building as a visible teaching environment in which structure, construction systems and circulation are intentionally exposed to architecture students. Varied workspaces open toward the central void, encouraging visual connections between disciplines and year groups. Completed in 2014, the building combines contemporary environmental design with an explicit pedagogical agenda, making the architecture itself part of the curriculum.
