MAMM Expansion

51-1 Arquitectos + Ctrl G · Medellín, Colombia · 2015

The expansion of Medellín’s modern art museum is conceived as a vertical village rather than a single closed museum block. Stacked concrete volumes form public terraces connected by an exterior network of stairs, allowing people to climb through the building even without entering galleries. The architects drew from the incremental urban logic of Medellín’s hillside neighborhoods, turning circulation and roofs into civic space. The extension complements the reused Talleres Robledo industrial building and anchors Ciudad del Río.
