Leeds Town Hall
Cuthbert Brodrick · Leeds, United Kingdom · 1858
Brodrick's town hall combines a monumental classical entrance, a large civic hall and a commanding clock tower. Its scale and richly modelled stone exterior express the ambitions of Victorian Leeds. The building is a useful example of how nineteenth-century civic architecture used public ceremony to shape the city centre.
