Lee Ufan Museum

Tadao Ando; Lee Ufan · Naoshima, Japan · 2010

The Lee Ufan Museum is conceived as a dialogue between Ando's concrete architecture and Lee Ufan's sparse installations of stone, steel and paint. Much of the building is recessed into the ground, and a long approach wall slows the transition from landscape to gallery. The restrained scale and carefully controlled natural light make this one of Naoshima's quietest architectural experiences.
