Kuala Lumpur Railway Station

Arthur Benison Hubback · Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia · 1910

Kuala Lumpur's historic railway station combines a working transport programme with an elaborate composition of domes, towers and arcades. Arthur Benison Hubback's design gives the long façade a strong rhythm. The building demonstrates how early twentieth-century railway infrastructure could operate simultaneously as a practical interchange and a major civic landmark. Visiting: Public exterior and ordinary circulation areas can be viewed without a visitor ticket. Journeys and controlled platforms have separate ticket requirements.
