Kantajew Temple
Bengal temple workshops · Dinajpur, Bangladesh · 1752
Kantajew Temple is distinguished by dense terracotta reliefs covering its brick surfaces. The building's repeated arches and sculptural panels bring architectural rhythm together with narrative imagery. Although its original upper towers have been lost, the surviving structure remains a concentrated record of the craft and visual culture of eighteenth-century Bengal. Visiting: A working Hindu temple about 20 km north of Dinajpur. The terracotta panels covering the outer walls are the main thing to see; remove shoes in the temple compound.
