Kanazawa Umimirai Library

Coelacanth K&H Architects · Kanazawa, Japan · 2011

A nearly cubic white volume is perforated by thousands of circular openings that diffuse daylight across a tall, open reading hall. The simple exterior conceals a surprisingly monumental shared interior, making the library one of the clearest recent Japanese examples of architecture built around a single atmospheric idea.
