Jewel Changi Airport
Moshe Safdie · Singapore, Singapore · 2019
Jewel Changi Airport, completed in 2019, is a multi-use complex primarily serving Singapore Changi Airport. Designed by Moshe Safdie, it integrates airport facilities with retail, dining, and leisure attractions. Its distinctive toroidal glass and steel facade encases a terraced garden environment known as the Forest Valley, demonstrating a convergence of infrastructure and landscape architecture. The building's most prominent feature is the Rain Vortex, currently the world's tallest indoor waterfall, which cascades seven stories from an oculus at the center of the roof. This design element not only provides a visual spectacle but also contributes to the internal microclimate and rainwater collection. Jewel Changi Airport represents a contemporary approach to airport design, functioning as a destination in itself.
