House of Music Hungary
Sou Fujimoto Architects · Budapest, Hungary · 2022
Sou Fujimoto’s House of Music Hungary is defined by a thin perforated roof that appears to float among the trees of Budapest’s City Park. Numerous circular openings allow trunks and daylight to pass through the canopy, while fully glazed ground-level spaces minimize the boundary between interior and landscape. Exhibition, education and performance functions extend above and below ground around the transparent public level. Opened in 2022, the building turns the metaphor of a forest canopy into a sophisticated environmental and spatial system and is one of the most prominent contemporary additions to Városliget.
