High Court, Chandigarh

Le Corbusier · Chandigarh, India · 1955

Chandigarh's High Court is identified by a monumental curved roof and a deep, shaded entrance zone. Le Corbusier used colour, concrete and overscaled elements to give the judicial building a distinct identity within the Capitol Complex. The space between the roof and occupied floors turns climatic protection into the project's principal public gesture. Visiting: Free Chandigarh Tourism guided tour with registration and photo ID. Court interiors remain subject to security and official work.
