Mashabane Rose Associates organized the museum around the history of the 1976 Soweto uprising. Brick, courtyards and controlled views create a measured relationship between the exhibition spaces and the surrounding neighborhood, giving commemoration a direct connection with its urban setting. Visiting: The museum is ticketed; the memorial outside is free to visit.
