Hanuman Dhoka Palace

Malla and Shah court workshops · Kathmandu, Nepal

Hanuman Dhoka preserves the former royal palace precinct at the heart of old Kathmandu. Courts, gateways and buildings from different periods form an intricate sequence behind the public square. The complex offers a view of palace architecture through thresholds and accumulated layers rather than a single outwardly uniform composition. Visiting: Foreign visitors pay an entry fee for Kathmandu Durbar Square, which includes the palace museum.
