Haifa Auditorium
Al Mansfeld and Danny Havkin · Haifa, Israel · 1974
Haifa Auditorium is a major performance hall in the Carmel Center and part of the Rappaport Center for Culture and Art. It was designed by architects Al Mansfeld and Danny Havkin and inaugurated in 1974. The hall seats more than 1,100 spectators in a configuration without a balcony and serves as a principal venue for concerts, theatre, dance and the Haifa International Film Festival. In 2000 the building was renovated by the Mansfeld-Kehat office, including replacement of its deteriorating exterior stone cladding. The project is an important work of Israeli late-modern civic architecture and is not a work by Oscar Niemeyer.
