Antonin Raymond · Takasaki, Japan · 1961

Antonin Raymond shapes the concert hall from repeated folded reinforced-concrete plates, producing a powerful civic building with very little applied decoration. The structural rhythm is legible inside and out, making the hall a valuable example of postwar Japanese modernism before the Metabolist generation fully emerged.
