Ginza Place
Klein Dytham architecture (exterior) with Taisei Corporation (overall design) · Tokyo, Japan · 2016
Ginza Place occupies one of the most visible corners in Tokyo, facing the famous Ginza 4-chome crossing. Klein Dytham architecture developed the façade and building massing as a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional Japanese craft, using a crisp lattice of white aluminum panels. The patterned skin gives the commercial building a strong identity without relying on oversized signage, making the architecture itself the primary urban signal. Its tenants include major showrooms and retail spaces, but the building’s real impact is at street scale: it frames the crossing as a bright, textured object. The project is useful for ArchiAtlas because it shows how a commercial façade can operate as both brand surface and civic landmark.
