Renzo Piano Building Workshop transformed a former early-twentieth-century power station into a large contemporary cultural center for the V-A-C Foundation. The project preserves the long industrial hall and landmark chimneys while inserting galleries, performance spaces, education areas and a public indoor piazza. New circulation is treated as a visible spatial system connecting art, civic activity and the surrounding Bolotnaya waterfront. Opened in 2021, GES-2 is one of Moscow’s most significant adaptive-reuse projects and a major example of industrial heritage being converted into accessible cultural infrastructure.
