Galaxy SOHO

Zaha Hadid Architects · Beijing, China · 2012

Galaxy SOHO is composed of four flowing volumes linked by bridges and wrapped around a sequence of internal courtyards. Zaha Hadid Architects replaced the conventional perimeter block with continuous curving floor plates that move between retail, office and circulation space without a clear front or back. The polished exterior surfaces and multi-level bridges make the complex read as a connected urban landscape rather than separate buildings. Completed in 2012, it is one of Beijing’s most recognizable examples of parametric-era commercial architecture and a major built work from Zaha Hadid’s mature practice.
