Future University Hakodate

Riken Yamamoto & Field Shop · Hakodate, Japan · 2000

Riken Yamamoto organizes the university around a gigantic stepped interior called the Studio, where teaching, circulation and informal work overlap in one continuous volume. The project turns academic life into a visible collective activity and remains one of Japan's clearest architectural arguments for openness in education.
