Floralis Genérica
Eduardo Catalano · Buenos Aires, Argentina · 2002
Floralis Genérica turns a flower into a large piece of kinetic public architecture. Eduardo Catalano's sculpture was installed in Buenos Aires in 2002, using metal petals and a central support above a reflecting pool. Its intended movement connects the structure with the changing cycle of the day, although maintenance conditions can affect operation. The surrounding park is essential to the experience: paths and changing viewpoints allow the object to be read through its scale, reflections and relationship with the city's public landscape. Visiting: An outdoor sculpture in public parkland. Check for maintenance restrictions around the moving structure.
