Fiordo di Furore

Unknown · Furore, Italy

Fiordo di Furore is a coastal settlement and infrastructural landscape where architecture is shaped by a narrow gorge, bridge, beach, and former fishermen’s buildings. Although often visited for its natural drama, it is also architecturally important as a compact example of building within extreme topography. Small structures cling to rock, the road bridge spans the void, and the descent to the water compresses circulation into a vertical experience. The site shows how everyday coastal architecture, infrastructure, and geology form one spatial system. For ArchiAtlas, it expands the Amalfi Coast collection beyond churches and villas, emphasizing the built environment of access, labor, and landscape adaptation.
