Faisal Mosque

Vedat Dalokay · Islamabad, Pakistan · 1986

Vedat Dalokay's Faisal Mosque replaces a conventional domed composition with a vast angular prayer hall and slender minarets. The tent-like main form is set against the Margalla Hills, giving landscape a major role in its identity. The building combines an emphatically modern structural image with the collective scale of a national mosque. Visiting: A religious site. Basic access is normally free, with local worship, dress and photography restrictions; additional visitor attractions can be charged.
