Enoura Observatory is conceived less as a single building than as an architectural landscape aligned with sea, sky and seasonal solar events. Hiroshi Sugimoto combines new galleries and viewing structures with carefully relocated stones, historic fragments and traditional construction techniques. The long approach and controlled sightlines make the site a meditation on time and cultural continuity as much as a contemporary art destination.
