Emporia
Wingårdh Arkitektkontor · Malmö, Sweden · 2012
Emporia transforms the conventional shopping center into a more expressive urban object through two dramatic curved-glass entrances that appear to pull the façade inward. Completed in 2012 by Wingårdh Arkitektkontor, the large commercial complex anchors Malmö’s Hyllie development near the railway station. Inside, circulation is organized around generous atria and differentiated zones, while a substantial accessible roof landscape adds public outdoor space above the retail program. The project is a prominent example of contemporary Swedish commercial architecture operating at metropolitan scale.
