Ebisu Station West Exit Toilet

Kashiwa Sato · Tokyo, Japan · 2021

Ebisu Station West Exit Toilet, designed by Kashiwa Sato, is located in a busy pedestrian environment where visibility, clarity, and ease of use are essential. The project uses white aluminum louvers and a clean graphic presence to make the facility feel bright, orderly, and accessible. Its design is less about architectural drama and more about legibility within the flow of the city. In the context of THE TOKYO TOILET network, the project shows how a restroom can function as a highly visible piece of public information, guiding users through simplicity and consistency. The minimal expression supports the initiative’s broader goal of replacing negative stereotypes about public toilets with a sense of cleanliness, safety, and civic care. Its urban role is practical, direct, and carefully designed.
