Djamaa el Djazaïr

KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten · Algiers, Algeria · 2019

KSP’s mosque complex combines a very large prayer hall, a prominent minaret and extensive supporting facilities. The project uses a contemporary structural and material language while drawing on established mosque typologies, creating a major new landmark on Algiers’ eastern waterfront. Visiting: Open daily from 10:00 until after the evening prayer. The 265 m minaret, the world's tallest, has lifts to a viewing platform and houses a museum of Algerian history. Non-Muslim visitors should dress modestly and avoid prayer times.
