Denver Art Museum – Hamilton Building
Studio Libeskind; Davis Partnership Architects · Denver, United States · 2006
Daniel Libeskind's Hamilton Building brings an angular, titanium-clad addition to Denver's museum precinct. Opened in 2006, it organizes galleries within a composition of projecting planes and sharply changing volumes. The exterior sets up a deliberate contrast with Gio Ponti's neighbouring museum building and with the more regular streets around Civic Center. Follow the relationship between entrance, stairways and gallery thresholds to understand how the building's external geometry carries into its public interior. Visiting: Museum admission is ticketed. This record identifies the Hamilton Building rather than the neighbouring Martin Building.
