De Beers Ginza Building
Jun Mitsui & Associates Architects · Tokyo, Japan · 2008
The De Beers Ginza Building is a slender commercial tower that turns a small corner site into a twisting urban figure. Designed by Jun Mitsui & Associates Architects and completed in 2008, the building is known for its stainless-steel and glass façade, whose vertical waves suggest reflected light in motion. This makes the project especially suitable for Ginza, where luxury brands compete not only through display windows but through architectural identity. The building’s narrowness, height and sculptural envelope make it a useful case study in maximizing impact on a constrained plot. For ArchiAtlas, it adds a strong example of material-driven commercial architecture and of Ginza’s culture of experimental boutique façades.
