Cube Houses, Rotterdam
Piet Blom · Rotterdam, Netherlands · 1984
Piet Blom tilted house-shaped volumes above a pedestrian level to create an unusual high-density residential environment. The cluster reinterprets a small urban neighborhood as a set of elevated dwellings, with shared routes beneath and sharply angled interior spaces above. Visiting: The walkway under and between the cubes is a public route above Overblaak. One cube, the Kijk-Kubus, is a show home open daily for a small fee.
