Contemporary Arts Center – Rosenthal Center

Zaha Hadid Architects · Cincinnati, United States · 2003

Zaha Hadid's Rosenthal Center brings a contemporary arts programme into a compact downtown site. Opened in Cincinnati in 2003, the building combines stacked exhibition volumes with a dynamic internal route and a ground-level public threshold. Its changing geometry is organized around the relationship between street movement and the vertical experience of visiting galleries. The exterior reads differently from each side, while the interior stairs and landings connect the separate rooms into a sequence of encounters rather than a single uniform exhibition floor. Visiting: Regular gallery admission is ticketed. Some visitor categories and selected periods have free admission.
