Mewar court workshops · Udaipur, India

Udaipur's City Palace forms a dense group of courtyards, terraces and elevated rooms above Lake Pichola. Built and expanded by successive rulers, the complex combines a strong outer mass with much more intricate interior spaces. Views towards the lake and across the city are woven into the sequence of royal architecture. Visiting: Entry is ticketed; the palace facade rising above Lake Pichola is best seen from the lake or the western ghats.
