Cineteca Nacional Siglo XXI Expansion

Rojkind Arquitectos · Mexico City, Mexico · 2012

Rojkind Arquitectos transformed Mexico’s National Film Archive by reorganizing a fragmented existing campus around a new sheltered public plaza. A perforated roof canopy spans between cinemas and circulation zones, giving the complex a continuous civic interior while allowing daylight and air to filter through. New screening rooms, outdoor media surfaces and landscaped spaces extend the institution beyond conventional theater lobbies. Completed as a major 2012 expansion, the project is a strong example of contemporary adaptive reuse centered on public space rather than a singular object building.
