Freddy Mamani’s Crucero de los Andes pushes El Alto’s neo-Andean cholet typology toward a deliberately spectacular urban landmark. The multi-level complex combines event, hospitality and commercial functions beneath a full-scale ship-like volume placed on the roof. Bright color, Tiwanaku-derived geometric motifs and highly visible ornament place the building within a broader architecture associated with the rise of an Aymara commercial elite. Opened in 2023, it is one of the most recognizable recent examples of the cholet phenomenon.
