Chilehaus
Fritz Höger · Hamburg, Germany · 1924
Fritz Höger used dark brick, repeated vertical elements and a sharply pointed corner to shape an entire urban block. The building’s curved frontage and ship-like profile make its relationship to the surrounding streets as important as its individual facade details. Visiting: The pointed east corner on Burchardplatz is the classic view. The inner courtyards and arcades are public and free to walk through.
