CHIJMES
Charles Benedict Nain; later restoration teams · Singapore, Singapore · 1904
CHIJMES adapts a former convent ensemble into a place for dining, events and public gathering. The Gothic Revival chapel remains the most recognizable element, while courts and connecting buildings reveal the site's longer development. Its present use makes the relationship between historic religious architecture and commercial adaptation particularly visible. Visiting: Public courtyards and circulation can be visited without a general admission ticket. Dining, events and the chapel have separate arrangements.
