Chengdu Museum, New Building

Sutherland Hussey Harris; Pansolution · Chengdu, China · 2016

Chengdu Museum's new building uses a faceted metal-clad exterior to establish a distinctive presence beside Tianfu Square. The large cultural programme is organized within an emphatic geometric envelope. Its sheltered ground-level spaces and relationship with the square allow the building to operate as both an exhibition institution and part of the public city. Visiting: General public areas have no standard admission charge; special exhibitions, performances and booking requirements can differ.
