Chelsea Market

Vandeberg Architects (market conversion) · New York, United States · 1997

The former Nabisco factory complex became Chelsea Market through an adaptive reuse project that retained brick walls, industrial structure and an irregular internal passage. The High Line crosses the western part of the block, connecting the market’s layered industrial history with the elevated railway. Visiting: The food-market passage is open to visitors during operating hours. Food, shopping and organized activities may cost extra; upper-floor offices are restricted.
