Centre Pompidou Málaga
Javier Pérez de la Fuente; Juan Antonio Marín Malavé · Málaga, Spain · 2015
Centre Pompidou Málaga occupies a cultural space beneath the waterfront development at Muelle Uno. Opened in 2015, the building is identified above ground by a glazed cube transformed through Daniel Buren's coloured intervention. The architectural work is associated with Javier Pérez de la Fuente and Juan Antonio Marín Malavé. The contrast between this compact, visible marker and the more extensive galleries below is central to the experience. Its setting also links the museum to the port's public promenades, allowing the coloured cube to act as an orientation point within the broader waterfront landscape. Visiting: Exhibition admission is normally ticketed. Daniel Buren's coloured cube is an artwork on the building.
