Biomuseo

Frank Gehry · Panama City, Panama · 2014

Frank Gehry’s Biomuseo is organized as a cluster of brightly colored roof forms on the Amador Causeway, facing both the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal and the city skyline. Beneath the expressive canopy, galleries explain Panama’s biodiversity and geological role as a land bridge. The project combines Gehry’s characteristic fragmented geometry with broad shaded exterior areas suited to the tropical climate. It is one of Panama’s most visible contemporary cultural buildings and Gehry’s first major work in Latin America.
