Bhaktapur Durbar Square
Malla court workshops · Bhaktapur, Nepal
Bhaktapur Durbar Square combines former royal buildings with temples and civic gathering spaces. The ensemble developed through successive Malla-period campaigns and later repair. Its carved timber, brick façades and carefully framed courts reveal the close relationship between urban life, skilled craft and ceremonial architecture in the Kathmandu Valley. Visiting: Foreign visitors pay an entry fee for the historic core; it covers the squares and streets around the palace.
