Beijing Daxing International Airport Terminal
Zaha Hadid Architects + ADP Ingénierie + Beijing Institute of Architectural Design · Beijing, China · 2019
The main terminal at Beijing Daxing International Airport organizes an enormous passenger program around a compact radial plan. Six flowing piers extend from a central processing hall, shortening walking distances while allowing daylight to reach deep into the building through a network of roof openings. Zaha Hadid Architects, ADP Ingénierie and Chinese design partners developed the terminal as a continuous structural and spatial system rather than a conventional box with attached concourses. Opened in 2019, it is among the world’s largest airport terminals and a major example of contemporary transport architecture at infrastructural scale.
