ANZAC Memorial
Bruce Dellit · Sydney, Australia · 1934
Bruce Dellit’s ANZAC Memorial is one of Australia’s most important Art Deco public monuments. A compact stepped stone mass rises from Hyde Park, with sculptural reliefs and interior works by Rayner Hoff integrated directly into the architecture. The plan organizes commemorative spaces around a central circular Hall of Silence, creating a controlled transition from the public park to an introspective interior. Opened in 1934, the memorial combines architecture, sculpture and landscape into a highly cohesive civic work dedicated to Australians who served in war.
