Amber Fort rises above Maota Lake through a series of walls, gates and terraced courts. The palace complex combines defensive approaches with richly decorated halls and intimate royal spaces. Its changes of level and carefully framed views connect architectural ceremony with the surrounding hills and the movement of visitors through the enclosure. Visiting: Entry is ticketed; the fort and its walls are visible freely from Maota Lake below.
