Al-Rifa'i Mosque
Hussein Fahmi Pasha; Max Herz · Cairo, Egypt · 1912
The mosque’s monumental stone exterior and domed composition were developed through a long construction campaign. Its position beside the Sultan Hassan complex creates a particularly clear opportunity to compare religious architecture from different periods within the same urban setting. Visiting: Visitor entry is ticketed (often combined with the Sultan Hassan Mosque opposite); the facade facing the square can be seen freely.
