1 Bligh Street
ingenhoven associates + Architectus · Sydney, Australia · 2011
1 Bligh Street is an elliptical office tower organized around a full-height naturally ventilated atrium. The curved plan maximizes harbour views while a double-skin façade, external sun shading and extensive daylighting reduce environmental loads. Glass lifts move through the central void, making circulation visible and turning the atrium into the building’s spatial focus. Designed by ingenhoven associates with Architectus and completed in 2011, the tower became an influential Australian example of environmentally driven high-rise design in which building performance is integrated with architectural form.
